The October meeting of the troop
committee was opened at 8 AM by Billy Dillon, Chairman, at
Cozby Library, Coppell TX. The minutes were approved as
posted on the web page. The treasurer’s report shows a
balance of $12,612.70. Chili Supper ticket sales are ahead
of last year. Fall Camporee is this coming weekend at Camp
Wisdom. We need a truck and driver to pull the equipment
trailer since Mrs. Kressmann’s truck needs work. 19 boys
have signed up. The drivers’ list will be passed at
parents’ meeting Oct 9. We almost didn’t go camping at
Turner Falls for lack of drivers and sufficient seat
belts. Mark Senior’s Eagle project is today - a food drive
benefiting Metrocrest. Sam Hudson has Oct 27 and Nov 10
scheduled for his project workdays.
The December campout will be at
Eagles’ Roost on Lake Texoma. Hiking/back packing is the
theme. The February 9 campout is at Group Dynamix from 8
PM to 8 AM. This facility is like an indoor COPE course
with both aerial and floor activities. A deposit of $13 is
due Jan 1 for this event. We need a minimum of 25 Scouts.
If we have 50 or more, no other group will be scheduled.
Total cost $26.
Mr. Kim reports the tents need care.
Some sets need stakes. The trailer needs inventory and
reorganization. Mr. Bohn will research the cost of monthly
rent for a small storage unit near the church.
A letter from Brian Bloss was read.
He suggested donating excess money from the Chili Supper
to the American Red Cross for disaster relief in New York
City and Washington, DC. Mr. Warrick moved, Mr. Wilt 2nd,
that the letter be referred to the committee currently
evaluating the allocation of these funds. The letter was
then given to Mr. Nawoj.
Advancement - Aaron Lee’s Eagle
Court will be Oct 21, 3 PM at Congregation Kol Ami, Flower
Mound.
On Oct 20, 2nd Class swimming
requirements will be taught by Dr. Lacey and Mr. Wilt,
location TBA. Mr. Hohnholt will help target the current
Tenderfoot Scouts toward 2nd class.
Mr. Piper reports that the WY treks
for Philmont fell through. The Callathon for 2003 is Oct
27. Everyone try to get 2 treks for a total of 20 places.
An outside firm is handling this event. Troops will be
locked out as soon as they book, so many can call. Popcorn
- Annette Ezzell has sales kits on her porch. Orders are
due Oct 30, a meeting night. Distribution is Nov 11.
Popcorn money is due Nov 27. Prizes will be distributed
Dec 4. Mr. Hohnholt moved, Mrs. Warrick 2nd, each Scout’s
popcorn earnings will be credited toward his camping
account. Motion passed.
In order to increase program
content, additional skills demos are proposed. Mr. Wilt
will organize a meeting for tomorrow afternoon at his
house to discuss this. Chili Supper - Mr. Shyne reports
all permits are in. Store sales will be 4 weekends. Scouts
made good use of the early sales bonus period, earning
many Scout Bucks. Dave Schauf of McCormick is again
donating the spices. Mr. Kim will coordinate the two main
food purchases. Mr. Applegate has arranged to bring the
commercial food processor. The Coke setup will arrive
after the driver services the concession stand. McDonalds
is the source for orange drink. The orange coolers come
with the drink concentrate. Annette Ezzell has the press
releases ready to go. We need paper goods inventories from
Mr. Bloss and Mr. Gary Smith. The CMSN Band will buy 120
tickets. CMSW is yet unscheduled. CMSE has other plans.
Signs go out on October 28. Precook is Oct 28, 2 PM. Web
page - The next 6 months are paid. Quick links on the home
page go to the troop calendar, Eagle project news and
resources, recent up-dates, Chili dinner, and newsletter.
A suggested addition to the annual registration form is a
signed photo release if we use activity pictures on the
web site.

Dillon announced the next meeting will be Nov 3rd.
