Outdoor Activities
·
Mrs. Schreibfeder said the January campout will
be at
· February 8th is the evening for Group Dynamix in Carrollton from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on the 9th. We must have 1 Adult for every 8 Scouts. Cost is $29.00 per Scout with no charge for the Adults.
· Spring Camporee is scheduled during the Coppell ISD Spring Break. Rush Creek is a possibility on March 28-30.
· April 11th to the 13th we’ll be camping in Cisco.
· May 16th to the 18th we’ll be camping at Constantine or Texoma.
· June 18th (departure date from Coppell) through June 28th (return to Coppell) are the dates for Camp Bartle in Missouri. Physicals required (Class II recognized for three years, Class I must be annual for scouts; adults must have both parts completed annually).
·
July 20-26th
· Philmont 2004 signup will go through this coming Tuesday evening. $50 deposit is due by January 14th. June 10th departure from Coppell. Trek runs 12-days starting the 11th of June and goes through the 23rd of June 2004.
Transportation Report
· Mr. Rabbitt said things are “rolling right along”. Phillip Smith’s mom said her son is no longer interested in belonging to the Troop so she will drop out of the phone committee. We have an opening for the Advancement Committee (Lynn Smith will stop his participation due to his son’s departure). Mrs. Lisa Baker will join the phone committee.
Scouting for Food
· Mr. Dillon is looking for a chairperson to lead the Scouting for Food effort. Mrs. Schreibfeder will call Mrs. Powers to see if she is interested in leading this effort again this year. Everyone recognized what a great job she has done with this in the past.
Treasurer’s Report
· Mr. Langworthy has presented the Treasurer’s Report. General Expense fund is getting fairly low and we need to address the budget for this year. Mrs. Davis made a motion that we accept Pack 840’s donation of $300 towards our annual storage expense to store Pack 840’s Pinewood Derby track. Mr. Rabbitt seconded the motion and it carried. Mr. Sundermann will work with Mr. Kim to see if our storage area will accommodate their track.
· We may need to adjust the annual family camping fee from $25 per family to account for increased expenses to help the troop increase the General Expense fund to account for our increased expenses. Mrs. Ghaly has motioned that we raise the $25 per family equipment fee to $30 per family per year. Mr. Langworthy has seconded the motion. After discussion, the motion carried.
· Mr. Ghaly will check with another pack to see if they want to participate in our storage area for their Pinewood Derby track, too. He will report back at the next Committee Meeting.
· Mr. Langworthy has presented the Krispy Kreme Fundraiser for individual Scout camping fund accounts. Collect money up front and deliver over a three-week period. Forms will be distributed at Tuesday evening’s meeting. The sales period will go from January 7th through the 21st. Deliveries will be made over three weekends on January 25th, February 8th and February 22nd. The price per dozen will be $5.00 and each Scout will receive between $2.00 and $2.50 per dozen credited to their outdoor activity account. (See Page 7 and 8 of these meeting minutes for sales information and order sheet).
Equipment Report
· Mr. Dean got someone to paint the trailer for free. We will have to replace the logos. This should be done after January’s campout because we won’t need the trailer for two months.
· Mr. Green said we need to replace six poles for the tents. Cost is about $18 per set of poles. Mr. Green will arrange to get the poles. Susan Davis made a motion to purchase eight poles (at $19.95 less 10% discount) to replace needed poles and have a couple spares. It was seconded by Mr. Rabbitt and the motion carried.
OA Report
· Mr. Davis said the lodge banquet is tonight. OA is into crossovers and they need to get help from OA scouts. Winter camp had seven boys on staff (none from our Troop). On February 15th and 16th they will have Pow wow.
· Carter Sundermann has just finished his ordeal! Congratulations!
· Coppell Troop member participation has been very week in OA meetings.
· OA elections in our Troop will be February 11th. We have 29 eligible scouts for entry into OA.
