Committee Minutes  T-840,BSA      May 5, 2001

Meeting called to order at 8:02 AM.  Welcome to Mr. Steve Looney and Landon Applegate.  Announcements were made. 

Scoutmaster's report- Needed more tents at the last campout and replacement of lanterns.  Quartermasters need to go to a check out system and gear assigned to a patrol.  Some members are finishing ordeals this weekend for OA.  SPL report-nothing.

Outdoor activities - Campout this month is canoeing at Camp Worth, Mineral Wells TX. Meet at church Friday May 25-26-27. Boys will need closed toes shoes for canoeing. Boys and adults will need to take a swim test or have swimmers MB. Swim test will be Sat, May 12, 5 PM, location tba.  All WY2001 whitewater campers will need to be tested also. Exceptions are made for boys and adults who have Sea Base training. Boys
and adults need to pay $5.00 for canoe trip.

Summer camp - changes in MB requirements - especially swimming.
Advancement will also change. Final payment for James Ray summer camp is May 15. Permission slips need to be completely filled out with parents names and phone numbers.

Equipment - need to replace tent poles. Mr. Wayne Applegate gave information regarding a top for the open trailer to protect contents. Mrs. Ann Lacey moved to buy the trailer top and Mr. Mike Otwell seconded it. (for $1085.00) Motion passed. The trailer needs new tires. Mr. Jimmy McCabe will check on tires for it. The family campout was a good success.

Treasurer's report was given by Mr. Piper. It was excellent as usual.

New memberships are done. All crossovers are completed.

Advancement - Aaron Lee and Brian Bloss are EAGLES !! Court of Honor May 22. Advancement does a great job.

Mrs. Martha Otwell will do Youth Protection Training on Tuesday May 15. All adults going to summer camps-James Ray, WY2001, Sea Base - need this training. All adults who camp and work with the boys need current training.

Scout Show - We have sold $380 worth  of tickets. All tickets are due this Tuesday. We will have a booth and do outside cooking. Mr. Shyne and Mr. Powers  are coordinating the booth. Boys and adults need to sign up to work.

WY2001 - final payment due May 15. Scouts and parents will need to attend May 8 mandatory meeting.

Sea Base - They're set to go !!

Venture - Meet with the other venture boys and Scoutmasters in the city. Aaron Lee is venture leader.

Buc Auction - set for Monday, May 14. Mr Shyne will be the Chili Supper Chairman next year. Mr. Looney is updating all boys' Scout Bucs. Next year we will give receipts for cash received.
